Shape Up for Clients

Directory

Who’s doing this

Agencies and consultancies that describe, in public, running Shape Up on client work. Every entry links to the source so you can read it for yourself.

How this list works. An entry needs a public write-up, talk or podcast by the shop itself, or an interview with it. Summaries stick to what the source says. Entries are ordered by the earliest source, with the publisher of this site last. Dates are publication dates; they are not endorsements, and several shops here adapt the method differently from this site’s guide.

Loupe

Software consultancy for automation and machine systems

Loupe describes itself as a software development consultancy that works in six-week sprints it calls Ship in Six. Each project has a shaping phase, billed hourly against a retainer, and a delivery phase, with each six-week sprint priced on its own. Its CEO, David Nichols, talked on the REWORK podcast about using Shape Up principles with clients who come from a world of complex contracts and project overruns.

Inovo Studios

Software development agency

Ryan Singer published a recorded conversation with Bruce van Zyl about his experience working with clients using Shape Up. Singer’s page does not name the agency; Inovo Studios, whose client testimonials refer to Bruce and the Inovo team, describes itself as pairing AI-assisted development with Shape Up methodology, with every project opening on a one-to-two-week discovery.

AngelHack DevLabs

Product development agency

DevLabs says it adopted Shape Up as its primary approach for client work after scope creep, backlog bloat and ritual overhead on Agile engagements. It runs fixed six-week cycles, has its product team and client stakeholders define the problem, constraints and appetite together, staffs each project with a pod of one designer and one or two developers, and uses cool-down weeks for bug fixes, maintenance and the next pitch. It says some short-term or R&D engagements still run on Agile sprints.

Agency Intentional

Laravel and AI software agency (the publisher of this site)

Agency Intentional publishes this site and runs its client engagements on the adaptations in the guide: shaped pitches, a fixed time box, a client betting table and hill charts as the status report. It is listed last, as the publisher, and its source is this guide. The link goes to the agency’s site.
